Le groupe houthi Ansar Allah a attaqué aujourd’hui, dimanche, un navire de chargement dans la Mer Rouge. En réponse, l’armée américaine a promis de tenir les Houthis pour responsables et de diminuer leur capacité militaire.

Position de l’Armée Américaine et Réactions

La British Maritime Trade Operations stated that they had received a report about an attack targeting a cargo ship 40 nautical miles south of Mokha in Yemen, confirming that authorities are investigating the incident.

On Saturday evening, the US military announced that the crew of a Ukrainian cargo ship had left after being unable to extinguish the fire caused by missiles launched by the Houthis from Yemen.

The US Central Military Command stated that the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels targeted the MV Faina ship, a cargo ship owned by Ukraine and operated by Poland under the flag of Palau, with two separate missile attacks, causing fires on board.

Efforts were made to rescue the crew, with the American ship MV Anna Marit assisting in evacuating the sailors to safety. Unfortunately, one sailor was seriously injured in the attack and later reported dead.

The US statement continued, stating that « the malignant and reckless behavior of the Houthis threatens regional stability and endangers sailors. We will continue to work with our partners to hold the Houthis accountable and diminish their military capabilities. »

The US Central Command reported the destruction of a drone, two boats, and seven radars in Yemen within the past 24 hours.

In solidarity with Gaza, facing a devastating Israeli-backed war for the ninth month, the Houthi group targets ships belonging to Israel with missiles and drones in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.

Répercussions de l’Intervention Internationale

Since the beginning of this year, a coalition led by the United States has been conducting airstrikes targeting Houthi locations in various areas of Yemen.

With Washington and London’s involvement, the Houthi group declared that American and British ships are now among their military targets.
