Thomas Matthew Crooks was born in 2004 in Bethel Park, a town in the southern suburbs of Greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Bethel Park is a relatively affluent city with a predominantly white population, located about sixty kilometers south of Butler, where the electoral assembly took place where Thomas attempted to assassinate Trump.
His father, Matthew Crooks, was born in 1971.

Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022, receiving the « Star Award » worth $500 from the National Math and Science Initiative.
A video from the graduation ceremony in 2022, published by The New York Times, shows Crooks receiving his high school diploma amidst thunderous applause.

Reports indicate that Thomas Matthew Crooks was a member of the Republican Party, to which Trump also belongs.
Crooks’ name was found in the Republican voter database in Pennsylvania, where he was registered as a participant in the closed primaries to vote for the party’s presidential candidate.
Despite his Republican affiliation, Crooks donated $15 to a left-wing Democratic political action group called « ActBlue » at the age of 17 in 2021.
Tentative d’Assassinat de Trump
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Crooks attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, by firing at him from a building across the platform where he was speaking during a political rally, hitting him in the ear.
Seconds after he fired on the platform, Secret Service agents shot Crooks dead.
Trump survived the incident with an ear injury and was taken to the hospital. One attendee was killed, and two others were severely injured.
The police found explosive materials in a car owned by Thomas Matthew Crooks parked near the rally venue in Pennsylvania. They also reported that the pistol Crooks used in the assassination attempt was purchased by his father.
